I P E Coordinators' Forum On 10th November 2006 the first IPE Coordinators' Forum was held at City University and was attended by a wide range of IPE Coordinators from around the country. The vision of the day is explained here by Danë Goodsman, Senior Lecturer for IPE at City and Queen Mary Universities: "The idea was born when I realised that often when I attend conferences about IPE it is not always easy to talk to the people that you want to, nor do presenters necessarily give a ‘warts and all’ account of the work they are doing. So my colleague Ellie and myself thought that we could institute a somewhat less formal event, one that would give all of us involved in IPE development and delivery the opportunity to really share what we were doing, including how we were getting on currently and the challenges that we faced for the future. The overall purpose is to enable us to support each other, raise problematic issues (and attempt to troubleshoot them), disseminate ideas etc that we might share and extend good/effective practice, or just keep each other away from the elephant traps! We hope that we can generate a collegiate atmosphere through this activity together and maybe meet once or twice a year at different colleague’s home institutions." Presentations were given from each of the 14 institutions represented about IPE projects currently in place and under development. A thought provoking presentation from speaker Della Freeth, Reader in Education for Healthcare Practice at City University, was the cause of much discussion and ongoing thought about the future of IPE. The day was deemed very worthwhile, and it was agreed that the next forum would be hosted at Keele University. Please follow the links below to download some of the presentations from the day.
